Day 19 and 20 - Dundas to No 8 SideRoad via Mount Nemo

OK, maybe 100 hiking posts is a bit excessive.  I think we'll start combining some of them.  This post covers two walks.  The first was from Dundas and Brant to No 1 Sideroad near Walkers Line.  It is amazing there is so much nature so close to Burlington.



This was followed one week later by a beautiful hike through Mount Nemo Conservation Area.  Gorgeous views.





and then through Cedar Springs.  Lucky we didn't run into the killer free range chickens!

Day 21 - Owen Sound and Jones Falls

We have moved up to the cottage for the summer, so our hikes have moved as well.  Now we are doing the Georgian Bay section of the trail, starting at Owen Sound which is an hour or so from our cottage.  We started at the Visitors Center at highway 21 and 6, and headed north.  Our first stop was Jones Falls. We proceeded along trying not to fall into the large crevasses Or fall off the high ledges Or run into dangerous wildlife.  Now that we are farther north we need to be more aware of our surroundings.  We nearly walked straight into porcupine!  We slowly backed up and let him climb a tree before we continued along. The Georgian Rail Trail provided a nice flat section we shared with cyclists and ATV's. We did 11km in just over 3 hours and 18,000 steps!

Day 18 - Waterdown and the Smokey Hollow Waterfall

What a gorgeous day!  Sunny and warm, it was beautiful!  We did this walk "backwards", starting at City View park just west of Burlington, and walking to our previous end point of Snake Rd. in Waterdown.  This was so that a couple of Burlington hikers could join us for the first little bit. I can't believe the Bruce trail is so close to Justin, Stef, and Benson's house.  They are so lucky!  About half way through the walk we got to Smokey Hollow Waterfall in Waterdown.  It was a bit crowded, but what a beautiful view!  I think everyone should do the walk from Smokey Hollow to Snake Rd.  It is our favorite section of the Bruce so far. I have no idea what slacklining is, but apparently it is not allowed. But you are definitely allowed to take pictures of the trilliums!
