Day Two - Laura Secord Trail

It is amazing how much you can learn when you try something new.  Here are our lessons from yesterday...

  1. Make sure the car is fully charged.  On the drive back from our walk yesterday the Tesla kept telling me I'd never make it.  It turns out the mileage estimate which is pretty accurate in the summer is a bit over optimistic in the winter.  I did manage to make it home, but only with no heat, no radio, and keeping under 100km/hr.
  2. Bring an extra battery for the phone.  After I called the Uber my phone died.  Luckily the Uber driver kept coming, but he could have just as easily left us stranded.  Now I have a backup phone battery for each walk.
  3. Spend the $30 and get updated maps.  Turns out the trail has changed quite a bit since my Bruce Trail book was published in 1997.  I paid $30, downloaded the latest maps, and now at the end of our planned walk we actually see our car instead of finding out it is many miles away.
Day two was much easier.  We did 6.5km instead of 10, the section was pretty flat and not icy (although quite muddy), and the whole walk took us less than 2 hours.  Here are some pics...
